RETREAT BEHAVIORAL HEALTH to feature on upcoming episode of A&E’s “Addiction Unplugged,” focusing on industry-leading pregnancy program

(LANCASTER COUNTY, PA) — Retreat is plugging into a key national discourse around the substance abuse epidemic.

On August 17th, A&E Network will debut its latest series “Addiction Unplugged,” a look at the ongoing opioid and drug crisis that continues to ravage much of America, and Retreat Behavioral Health will feature in an episode airing on August 31st at 1:30pm.

The episode featuring Retreat at Lancaster County takes viewers inside the bona fide struggles that pregnant women who continue to misuse substances are facing right now. The episode features key Retreat pregnancy program personnel including Dr. Kristi Dively, DO, an OB/GYN who heads up much of our care for these patients.

“Being featured on ‘Addiction Unplugged’ on A&E is a great point of pride for Retreat,” said founder and CEO Peter Schorr in a statement. “We’ve worked so hard over recent years to give numerous women battling addiction a second chance at a healthy pregnancy and healthy birth, resulting in a bright future for both mom and baby — and this exciting feature underscores the tireless efforts that our medical and nursing teams continue to make everyday.”

“Addiction Unplugged” was conceptualized by executive producer Allen West, an accomplished filmmaker whose Emmy Award-winning documentary work has explored a number of key social issues affecting Americans right now. This particular series features firsthand accounts from people suffering with substance use disorder or in recovery, and providers fighting to uplift and heal them.

The US addiction crisis is worrying: According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, more than 22 million Americans are in need of care for drug or alcohol dependence, but so few who could benefit from treatment receive the attention that they need.

“Through smart and relevant television programming like this, filmmakers like Allen and organizations like Retreat can be an engine for education and awareness for those who remain in the dark about the real threat that substance use poses,” Schorr concluded. “The good news, as ‘Addiction Unplugged,’ is certain to underscore — there’s hope.”
