NEW LIFE FOR A LOCAL LANDMARK: AKRON RESTAURANT NEW HOME TO RETREAT OUTPATIENT CENTER

MAY 18th 2016, AKRON, PA: The generations-old Akron Restaurant – a local cultural treasure by all accounts –opened today as the new location for Retreat at Lancaster County’s Outpatient Treatment Center. Work began in February to renovate the property at 333 S. Seventh St. – a $2.65 million project.  Peter Schorr, CEO of Retreat, Premier Addiction Treatment Centers, expects to create 50 new employment opportunities at this state-of-the-art facility.

The new space of almost 18,000 square feet will allow Retreat to offer a variety of family and community education programs, Schorr says is critically important.  The facility was welcomed to the area with an official ribbon cutting from the Ephrata Chamber of Commerce with over 150 professionals attending the opening ceremony.  Speeches were given by CEO & President, Peter Schorr, Executive Director of the Ephrata Chamber of Commerce, Andrea Glass, and the Akron Mayor, John McBeth.  The crowd was delighted to meet staff, tour the facility and enjoy home made cuisine from Retreat’s culinary staff.
