Campral (Acamprosate) helps to restore the normal function of the altered alcoholic brain that has been changed by long-term alcohol misuse. This medication is an oral form and requires two pills three times per day with meals.
Antabuse (Disulfiram) blocks an enzyme that is involved in processing alcohol. This medication should never be mixed with alcohol-containing products because it can lead to unpleasant and severe symptoms. Antabuse comes in oral form with two strengths and is taken once daily.
