We Provide Tailored Support for EMT & Paramedic Mental Health

Our Florida treatment centers include dedicated services addressing the mental health of EMS providers. These services are designed around an understanding of the physical, mental, and emotional complexities of working as a paramedic and the potential for them to play a role in the development of substance use and other mental health disorders.

Paramedics work in a high-stress environment and are regularly exposed to some of the worst moments in the lives of civilians. Ongoing exposure to these events can lead to severe mental health struggles and a high risk of alcohol and/or drug dependence. Alcoholism is particularly common in EMS providers and can be used to escape the job’s trauma and cope with its daily stressors. For many, the job can also result in co-occurring mental health disorders that must be treated jointly in order to get on a clear path to recovery.

We Use a Variety
of Treatments

Mental health support for paramedics includes both individual counseling and group therapy, both of which are foundational to our treatment philosophy. Additionally, paramedics in need of mental health services gain access to cutting-edge techniques for treating depression and PTSD, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and BrainsWay deep transcranial magnetic stimulation (dTMS).

Central to our paramedic mental health services is Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). Based on the wider discipline of cognitive behavior therapy, CPT uses targeted steps to treat PTSD, depression, and their corresponding symptoms.
